REPORT DIESEL IDLING VIOLATIONS

Diesel idling rules in California are overseen by the California Air Resources Board (CARB), which adopted and enforces the state’s truck and bus idling regulation. The rule generally limits heavy-duty diesel commercial motor vehicles to five minutes of idling, and complaints can be submitted directly to CARB through its reporting channels.

When you observe a Diesel Vehicle or Truck Idling for more than

5 minutes, Call 1-800-CUT-SMOG or Use the Online Complaint Form.

Have this information ready:

  • Location (address, school, or landmark
  • Vehicle type (truck or bus)
  • License plate (if safe to collect)
  • Time and date

Your report can be anonymous
